The Compleat Angler is now home to Aubergine, the internationally acclaimed restaurant that first opened its doors in London. Managed by the London Fine Dining Group, Aubergine is comfortably located within the hotel and combines an award winning European menu with an idyllic location. Overlooking the weir, Aubergine evokes simple elegance, serving unfussy modern European cuisine in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The cosy dining room is decorated in earthy tones and boasts a wood burning fireplace. Through original stained glass windows the Thames' trademark weeping willows provide a suitably English backdrop for a wonderful meal. Chef Miles Nixon displays his signature style in creating a classic but contemporary seasonal menu featuring comforting dishes such as Terrine of Foie Gras with pears & toasted brioche or Saddle of Lune Valley Lamb with White Onion Puree. There are few better ways to end a meal than with a perfect Aple Tarte Tatin or the sensuous pleasure of a Passion Fruit Souffle. Exceptional selections of carefully chosen French and British cheeses are also featured. Sunday lunches are a special family treat as a traditional roast is served from the carving trolley. Restaurant Manager and Sommelier Arnaud Tubeuf has compiled an extensive wine list featuring many reasonably priced bottles as well as fine and rare wines with exceptional vintages. Aubergine is also happy to cater for larger groups and can also be hired out for private and corporate functions.
